Static Seat belts

You guys helped me out last year when I had a door lock problem so I'm wondering whether you can help this time.

I have nearly completed the restoration of my 1973 911S Targa and I am about to replace the seat belts. Having retrimmed as original I want to install static belts. Any ideas where I might get some. One probelm I have encountered is the fact that most modern belts feature a rigid buckle on the tunnel side. This can be too long with the original seats. So a non-rigid section would be preferred.

Try this Securon Belts

Looking at the spec sheet you probably need a 300/30 kit.

You can order them from motor factors such as Partco and Brown Brothers. Shouldn't be more than £30.

Surely the rigid receiving buckle on the tunnel was an original fitting ? It is so on my '73 Targa S. And isn't the adjustment slider a pig to shift ! Coloin Palmer
 
The cars had the bolt points for both static and inertia. Mine was definitely supplied with static (March 73) and converted at sometime to inertia. But the interior trim had to be removed to accommadate them. However, the fixing to the tunnel always seemed to be flexible. This seems to be because the seats partly cover the side of the tunnel making it difficult to fix a rigid buckle. I am interested in the reply from Coloin Palmer (MIB 959) and would like to know whether he has different seats or there is an alternative fixing option. The Securicon belts Gary recommended are ideal as they are produced with a rigid fixing in varying lengths. Peter
 
Just as another point I've also modifed my car to mount the outer anchorage direct to the sills and the inner to the tunnel as on the later cars.

Mounting direct to seat frames is great for belt position, but not for still having the seat attached to the car when you crash!
 
Gary, did you use a rigid buckle fixing? If so, how did you cope with the seat overhanging the tunnel?
