Stalling in gear (low and high speed) and ‘Transmission emergency run’ and ‘Reduced engine power’ warnings

Hi All,
Seeking some wisdom on some recent problems with my early model 997.2 cabriolet. Car is used regularly but still has fairly low miles.
Recently had two issues:
  • i) PSE Exhaust – stopped working.
  • ii) Car stalling in gear (low and high speed) after 10-15 minutes and also the appearance of ‘Transmission emergency run’ and ‘Reduced engine power’ lights coming on in tandem. No issues going into gear and if I switch off/on then the warning lights disappear. Since driven a couple of times without a problem, but then appeared again, so currently with garage.
For the PSE my local independent has checked wires etc. but concluded that the solution was to replace the PSE switch, however, the light stays on and the PSE still not working. For the stalling, fault code P0335 was diagnosed and they replaced the flywheel (crankshaft) sensor, however, same issue (stalling/warning lights) is recurring and same fault code appears.

The independent is also doing their own investigations, but thought I'd reach out on the forum and see if anyone had similar issues and what was the solution?

Hi Peter,

I agree with John’s comment, but since PSE is vacuum operated it’s possible that there’s a vacuum leak in the system or a problem with the changeover valve which sends the vacuum to the activators, so that will be worth checking-out if the activators aren’t seized.

The P00335 fault code does relate to a crankshaft position sensor malfunction, but since this has been replaced it sounds as though there could be another issue. This link might give your Porsche Independent some ideas:
