Squeaky Front wishbone bushes

My 2000 3.4 996 C4 has got the well known squeaky front wishbone bushes.
I pretty sure it's them, as I have been underneath and felt where the noise is comming from.

I have tried spraying some silicone lubricant on them, but this hasn't made any difference.

I am considering unbolting the bushes swinging the arm down, and then giving them a good spray, to hopfully improove it.

The handling and allignment seem fine, so it is just an anoyance at low speeds over bumps.

And I am a perfectionist [;)]
as I managed to sort all the suspension knocks on my 100k miles 525d tourer myself, and it really sharpened up the handling.

Has anyone any experience of this, or had a go at changing them.
I beleive you have to change the whole control arm, as you cannot just get the bushes sepperate. was like that pon the beemer as well


 
Hi,

I have exactly the same on my 98 C2 Tip. When driving slowly and going over bumps or speed humps there is an annoying sound but its not there at speed.

The car is going back into OPC Stratford to rectify some previous work. Spooky co-incidence as they said I had mice - squeak! Now I have squeaky interior where they removed the rear seats to get to the electronics.

I will let you know what they say about the squeaky suspension.

Fortunately it looks like there was no damage from the mice to the car apart fron gnawing away at some foam. They could have left for a newer model years ago.....

Looks like OPC forgot to secure a pipe properly on the throttle housing which caused all my problems.

I will let you know how I get on with the suspension noise.
