Spare Bulb Pack

Just about to take my 55 reg Cayenne to France for the first time. Apart from all the Hi-Vis jackets, breathalysers, first-aid kit, warning triangle, etc, etc, that the French authorities insist upon, my question surrounds the spare bulb requirements. My KN has the Xenon headlights option and I don't fancy having to shell out £150+ just to carry a spare bulb if at all possible. Can anyone give advice on where to source a kit: OPC or Halfords, rent a set, or just save up and buy some!

I have an old set of bulbs that came from a 944, I believe. AFAIK it just says a spare set of bulbs, and if it comes in a Porsche box, hardly likely to be challenged!

Hi Robert,

Just done a trip to France & Germany, bought my bulbs from autobulbsdirect minus the HID as they are not prone to failure....... so I was informed..... no doubt I will soon be corrected on this.....

Given that it's 'summer', I wasn't planning to do any driving at night so not much chance of being caught/seen with a bulb out!!!!

Actually invested £14.99 in a Halfords No9 spare bulb kit, so hopefully enough to wave under the nose of any inquisitive gendarme!

Thanks all....

I've just come back from France and was asked to produce a bulb pack en route - I showed them my bulb kit (for my Audi A4) and they ticked their box. Realistically, you won't be changing your xenons at the road side so it is just a formality (in my view).

Regards

As I have the prospect of working in Germany and so may be crossing France I sourced most of the requirements as pairs from GSF, Foglamps, Flasher Headlamp etc and some spare bulb sets from previous cars provided most others, I got a Phillips Xenon off Ebay for £25 but it will hopefully not be needed.

I've got a Golf kit. I am curious to ask what else did they check, in particular were you asked to show the breathalyser kit(s) there has been some much fuss about when they can't fine you until Nov 1st?

Just back from France and all the breathaliser kits are sold out, not available for some time to come. I mean sold out from Supermarkets.

Re breathalysers:

Halfords do them as do autobulbsdirect.... did'nt realise this when I bought my bulbs but a Region member got both items from them & only 1 charge for P&P

Halfrauds are a rip off, as usual. They charge £5.99 whereas in France they are a few Euros, someone said they are even free at some clubs. Anyway you dont need them yet as it is not enforceable until 1st November.

I read that the breathalysers have a time limit on them of 12 months so if just going for one trip a year may as well pass them to someone else.
