Not posting much here these days but know you like Spa and pictures so here are some of the weekend I just got back from.

Not bad for 20 euro total for all 3 days racing in 25 deg+ sunshine [:)]

If its not relevant Melv please just delete, otherwise lets all not try and turn it into a 'car value' thread[;)][;)]

I should have stayed on for another week! There were many very rare cars there and apparently very few spectators with free access to paddocks and so forth!

I will have the Chaparral, the 908, the 956, the 935s and the Schumacher-Maas Merc, thank you!

Yup there was a LOT of very rare racing cars there giving it full throttle all weekend and very FEW people which made it even better![8D]

Very badly publicised but we knew about it[;)]

Brilliant! Thanks for posting.

Any soundfiles?[:D]

Yes, 935s, Sauber C9 and the 2.7 RS for me.

Great pics Jason. Is this event held every year or every other year like Le Mans Classic?

Were they really driving their cars hard, or parading them, as in Le Mans Classic (except for the few battling at the front) [;)][;)]

Same with all these Classic race events....bit of a mix of both! There are some quite big differences in power and handling within a race field so pointless going hell for leather chasing a car in front you are never going to catch but worth making sure you stay ahead of the one behind![;)]

The Group C cars and F1 cars could be driving at 40% for all I care...they still look and sound great!!!

In fact the slower they go the better view you get[:D][:D]

I´ve seen many of those cars racing at their time....

....I´m getting old now for sure.

Are their websites with more info, Jason?

Glad to see this photography hobby catching on JG

More great stuff thanks

Couple of years back booked on a track day at Spa , all paid for and no suitable car ..........................took ,72 s , really stretched its legs , really has everything for an old car and seemed like stationary on Kemel most of the time ..............spent whole journey back wondering what might fall off ...........still running

I think you tend to get the cars at the front of their class trying hard, and the others being more measured in historics. Interestingly, I was at Donny on thursday and had the pleasure of following an Aston Martin DBR1 in the wet through craner curves, he was on cross plies, and no suprise he was sideways all the way down. He was actually lapping a few seconds off our pace, considering his tyres and age of the car, I thought it was very impressive.

Great pics Jason. Looks like a who's who of the motorsport world from the last 50 years. Did the winners get a watch ?

Nice pics buddy!

Was a tad worried you'd gone over to the dark side when the first 6 pics were of red cars...

Was #132 a real 2.8 RSR u reckon??? Still toying with the idea of building myself a proper FIA replica to race...

And the little silvery/gold Aston MK III with the odd number plate is pretty.... of course given I have a few similar does make me biased ;-)

As I understood, this was the first year Peter Auto had run this event? Trying to build a new festival for Classics and thinking of taking the DB2/4 across to it next year... so would you measure it as a decent weekend for the drivers in terms of track time etc?

Cheers
Rick

Hacki - more info on the weekend here:
http://www.spa-classic.com

Rich it was its first year but think they are going to do it every year - Classic in early summer, 6hr in late summer.

Rick I think the cars get decent time on track - there were very few stoppages. Last race on Saturday is a 2 hour endurance race too with driver changes etc.

With the correct marketing and publicity it could easily be a very big event - great cars to see, phenomenal track and pretty central for Europe. Not sure if it clashed with anything but think it was just not very well publicised.

We will be back on a DDK tour next year for sure though![:)]
