Out of interest I once searched the web for independent tests on various airfilters. I found a two tests. The one I member best was undertaken by a group of American "truck" (V8 pick-ups in English) enthusiasts who put about 10 different types of filters onto GM's air filter test rig. One of the enthusiasts brothers worked for GM. The test included K&N as well as the OEM filter. The conclusion was that the K&N initially flowed slightly more than everything else, blocked up faster, then spent the remainder of the test flowing less than most filters. The other thing the test rig measured was the amount of particles passed through the filters. A standard mix of particles of various sizes are apparently used by GM. The K&N passed the most particles of all filters. OEM actually did pretty well. I've looked for this test again, but it been taken down now. I can't find it. I found another test, it drew similar conclusions.

And it is of course much appreciated Mas. Forgot to say, it's also going on a zermatt turbo too so not a million miles away from your Sig pic. Looking forward to ordering my new chip/map sensor next week and then starting to install the little pile of bits i've accumulated over the last 18 months. Thanks again, Mike

Well all the bits arrived but as usual with this car or maybe just me things were not simple to fit. Does anyone have a bailey dump valve fitted with the standard airfilter setup. What i found was if putting the lower part of air filter in place, the dump valve is hard up against the side of the coolant reservoir. This seems to put quite a bit of strain on the J boot rubber. Also how in the good Lord's name do you fit the lowest air filter bolt? It is the one that is under the housing and is not fitted from inside. Anyway. The old setup is back on for now till I figure this out so all help welcome

After leaving this in my too dificult tray for a while I'm keen to have another try. I sent the new airfilter assy back to Porsche when I couldn't get it to fit. I sourced a second hand one from the forum and would like to try and fit it in the next week or so. Does anyone with a turbo have the standard setup and a Bailey dump valve fitted. If you see the pic at the beginning of the thread, the silver dump valve pushes up against the coolant reservoir when I try to offer the filter up. Any ideas?
