SORN or not to SORN? Winter dilemma..

Just for interest, what's everyone's thoughts on SORN'ing (is that even a word..) your Porsche for the winter months? I don't, as occasionally there are bright but cold sunny days that justify a quick blast across the Peak District. I did SORN my 964 a few years back and regretted it as the car felt very arthritic after five months in the garage. My 987 Spyder lives on a C-Tek charger all the time and to date no battery issues to report.

Usually do mine at the beginning of November til 1st March. Not many events over winter and I find few opportunities to invent somewhere to go. Gives time also to give the car a good fettling up whilst it’s off the road. Everybody is different though.👍🏻

Nope. I stick a set of winter tyre on when the snow is forecast and drive it with them on until the spring.

Cars don't like being sat about. Get out and drive it.

I don't think I could cope with not driving my car for several months on end. There are usually lots of nice days throughout the winter months, and the roads are a lot quieter too. Some of my best drives ever have been during winter. It a great feeling getting wrapped up and going topless when there's snow on the ground too.
I do put winter tyres on so that I can go out whatever the weather.

I couldn't agree with you less Chris!

If you are forcing yourself to find a reason to use the car then avoiding salty roads (worse still road muck impregnated with salt) and idiot drivers who ignore the conditions, the car is better, and will look pristine longer, cosseted in a garage.
Sports cars achieve speed and handling by compromising the exact attributes you want when driving conditions are poor - good visibility principally but wide tyres can also be hindrance in poor road conditions.

If you are thinking of storing your Porsche over the winter months, please take a look at the following video from Molly’s Garage sharing some useful tips.
