Update on the Front Crank oil seal installation:
After my woes the other night I spoke with the boys at Lindsey Racing and ordered a replacement seal and oil sleeve drive from the local OPC. The recommendation was made to gently rub the crank down with P1200 & oil to remove any burs/bumps on the stub of the crank.
Having done this the crank certainly felt a lot smoother.
The interesting part came when the new sleeve arrived from the OPC today - unlike the previous generic (other supplier) it ran easily on the crank. A little bit of gentle further rubbing of the crank and the sleeve and the sleeve could easily be slide/twisted and engaged with oil pump.
Thought I'd share this as even to my untrained eye/ hand there was a noticeable difference in fit and tolerance on the crank. Interesting that both parts looked identical and had the same part number......
Anyhow, I'm pleased to report that it's all fitted, the rear timing cover is on - next job is to torque up the crank bolt, refit the various pulleys and the belts....
