slow starter

I have an 944 89 Auto wich is bit of a slow starter. It takes about 2 seconds of the starter motor to turn for the engine to start. I want the car to start first turn of the key, on the button, you could say. the car has only done 63k miles, thanks for your suggestions

Short answer - new battery at about 75amp/hr and you could get the starter refurbed and a new solenoid. This will give you what you want! Do a search - lots of people query the sluggishness of their starters - they are slow- but new electrical bits, your starter is probably original, will make lots of difference.

You can also change the earth straps at the battery and the starter, and if you are really keen the long cable from the battery at the back to the front of the car. All of these will make the starter spin faster but the car will not neccessarily catch straight away as there is a slight delay built in before the injectors fire.
