skimming brake discs

I Skimmed my Turbo racecar discs 1 or 2 times from new to get a fresh face to stop wobbles,I used to get heat cracks after a while which used to make them unusable before thickness became an issue.If you don't have a massive lip on the disc it's worth a go,I am sure in germany OPCs have skimming equipment at the dealer.
 
B4 you do check the costs of replacements from somewhere like Euro car parts as the costs can be fairly similar on some cars. Dont forget you probbly will need to replace the pds.

I am in the process of stripping the car including the brakes, just like to have the discs looking new again, just a small lip at present.
Will check out price comparisons, need a friendly guy with a lathe...

I used to get heat cracks after a while

Are they drilled discs, if so they do crack (easily) if they get very hot repeatedly - try grooved only, does the same job as drilled and the metal grain isnt cut the same way as in drilled discs and drilled disc holes block quickly too if used hard.

OEM Porsche discs (I believe) have the holes cast in so the grain goes around them - less cracking.
 
Nope never paid the extra for drilled,these were on the solid Porsche supplied discs,they had taken a pounding though with hard pagid pads and the car was very heavy for what it was doing!
 
For the big blacks the holey discs were cheaper last time I bought a set, on track I have cracked both solid and holey discs also turned them a rather fetching blue on hot days with sticky tyres.
 
Got my S2 fronts skimmed to get it through an MOT when I was poorly, passed the MOT but warped quickly afterwards now replacing with new for £113 from ECP with discount code 30% off.
