Evening all,

Is there club code for booking this years classic? I am sure I saw an email last year but cannot find it.....

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil.
I have just this minute booked mine for the whole weekend.
New for 2022, there are two-tiers of pricing for display packages. All car clubs have been issued with two unique booking codes relating to the age of the vehicle, based on their tax status, which Silverstone has defined as "Tax Exempt (Pre-1982)” and "Non-Tax Exempt (1982 +).

Tax exempt code 101CCDP22
Post 1982 code 102CCDP22

To be considered tax exempt for the purposes of this event cars must have been built before 1 Jan 1982.

See you there, but hopefully much sooner than that!!

Cheers.
Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you just booked. Looking forward to another amazing value weekend. Let's hope the weather is better this year.

Be great to see you before that of course.

Hi,
It's the best event of the year in my opinion and such good value.
Kind regards
Neil

I will go along with that.

HOWEVER PLEASE BE AWARE:-

The 2022 event for all Club Display will be different. ONLY Pre 1982 cars will be allowed infield on the Club stand. The Club stand may not be where it has been in prime location with our own stand etc but could be in a different location. Members Porsche cars that are not in the Pre Pre 1982 category will NOT have infield parking and it is currently unknown where these will be parked.

Well thats poor in my opinion. The biggest turn out of any car club in Great Britain and they want to change what everyone enjoys. Let's see what they propose then but might change job many people book in future years.

Thanks for the heads up.

Neil

Hi Neil, I have just checked with PCGB regarding parking. Pre ‘82 cars (tax exempt) display parking will be adjacent to club marquee. Newer cars‘ parking will be on infield but away from club marquee, exact location not yet confirmed. But will NOT be outside of circuit in public parking area. So similar situation as in previous years, just precise locations yet to be confirmed.
See you there, if not before. Cheers, Peter

Last year it cost £99 for Friday and Saturday. This year they are quoting £199. Unknown parking so probable not go this year. it is no longer value for money

I understand there will be no hospitality at the Classic this year . PCGB state cost has risen and the booking were down on this time last year . I will not be attending this year . Shame but with greatly increase fees, no parking or hospitality will be off to Donnington .

I asked the question today and have been sent this response, which basically says tough luck on enjoying the membership benefits...they must be saving up for the move to Bicester.

Update - 25/02/22

As announced when ticket sales went live there are a number of significant changes to the way Silverstone are operating The Classic this summer. While the event has traditionally taken place on the last weekend of July, this year it has moved to the August Bank Holiday weekend. The classification of a "classic” has also been changed from "2000” to "1982”, a jump of nearly 20 years.

At this present moment, it is not known where any Porsches built after 1 January 1982 will be displayed at the festival. Additionally, the cost to the Club for a "pitch” to provide a marquee and hospitality has also increased this year.

The number of car club packages purchased by Club members is lower than expected for this time of year. For all of these reasons, the Club will not be attending The Classic in an official capacity this summer. This means that unlike recent years, we will not be offering a Club marquee, complimentary teas and coffees or access to the Wellington Straight Grandstand.

Club members can still attend the three-day festival and the Club’s booking codes will still provide access to the car club display packages, which offer a significant discount and provides two entry tickets along with infield parking for your Porsche.

While The Classic is moving to the August Bank Holiday it’s retaining the same tried and tested Friday to Sunday format. The same record-breaking displays of treasured classic cars and an unrivalled line-up of retro races from all of motor racing’s golden eras will be right at the heart of The Classic event, with feverish qualifying sessions followed by a programme of spectacular showdowns across three action-packed days.

BOOKING CODES

To be considered tax exempt for the purposes of this event cars must have been built before 1 Jan 1982.

Vehicles will be displayed in different areas of Silverstone, with the classic, "Tax Exempt” cars expected to be located on the "inner track” on the Wellington Straight. We await confirmation regarding the location of an allocated display area for post ’82 registered cars. This will be confirmed after bookings close on 31 May and display spaces are allocated between the attending clubs.

Thanks for sharing.

So basically the board are enjoying the membership fees and the increase in the amount of members, but now cutting back on the benefits offered. The corporate memory is short here with a very risky strategy in switching people off and turning to other events, which in itself will cause an implode. Perhaps the board need to look at companies like Erikson who ignored the market and got left behind by Apple and Samsung. I fail to see how an increase in costs at one event is a make or break deal. In PP this month they talk about £5m being spent on PP alone which in itself seems expensive. A shiny New HQ seems all well and good and perhaps having something that can be used for the future is great, but in order to continue with the project you need to either secure funding or protect the funding which appears to be crucial. I don't see any evidence of steps being taken to retain those members whose funding must be critical. Interesting times ahead.

Silverstone have taken these illogical decisions which effectively sh1t-cans Porsche Club GB, because they have not considered the thousands of supporters who flock to this event year upon year, although I suggest the Club should have done much more to retain this spectacular display and show for us. The Bicester issue is just another example of the ineptitude of the Club to see the wood for the trees - we are not Porsche GB, we are Porsche CLUB GB

A slap in the face after all the specific effort this region and the Club has made over the last 10 years to present such a showcase for us and the attending public... what a shame.

Agreed . The present board is using their own % to get support for a move to a new venue . There are apparently 23000 members but only 2789 approx. voted for the move .
Silverstone do appear to be getting greedy but the event parked 1400 Porsche cars on a wet Saturday last year . There is a demand but at a reasonable price . I like many will not be going this year .
