Silver Rose For Sale...

I paid just over £1000 for Steve Coxs old Turbo S. It needs a sill and some welding repairs but is a solid car. The seats are a bit past it as they were swapped for ones by Steve before I bought the car. I have bought a nice burgundy comfort interior for it so will probably spend about £3000 in total getting the car back on the road. Will put the original seats up in the loft and change the door cards to keep them safe as they are still in very good condition. I am sure there will be a group buy of material at some point to refurbish them all! I think it will make a nice little car at the end of it and a desirable classic. All the mechanics are being gone through although the engine had a full top end 12,000 miles ago. Getting new brakes all round and maybe a KW treat as well,

Whether or not that car is worth 20 or not is open to debate, but you only need one person to buy it after all,and I look at both those cars and other cars on pistonheads. And the trend and general flavour is one of cars increasing in value, let's not fight it?
The collectors I reckon that will buy cars from overseas are new money with huge Garages that will collect querky and alternative models aswell as Motorsport models RS etc, think of the population sizes and the money being made I reckon classic Porsches will gradually go overseas in large numbers this will affect the prices of cars, the Turbo S and SE had huge performance for its era and it's styling which has gone through different periods of appreciation will become more sort after as time goes by,good cars will climb,I had a dealer mildly pester me for an 80s car that I have, this will happen more as years pass,at club events in the future there will be buyers walking up to owners giving them cards with contact me if you want to sell etc.
Again I am not deluded and thinking super rare 73 rs for a second, but good cars will climb I am
Positive of that,I will get shot for this I know and I don't want to sound like someone else, but original cars will be in demand with good histories, body, original wheels, orange indicators and all period looking.

Forgot to add, different countries view cars differently,in France the S is known as "cup" and in Germany the values of good turbos is way higher, when I have been to the Nurburgring I have had groups of people around my car and they always looked at the back and nodded and smiled in appreciation when they confirmed it was a turbo, people lying on the ground to look underneath it weirdly...
What I am trying to say is different countries think differently.
That's me on this subject😃
Hope both of the Silver rose Turbo S cars sell to good homes wherever they are and they both get good prices because that can't be bad eh?

Sevice History from OPC is not that important to me, but servicing history is, i probably over service my cars as they do not do a lot of miles i am constatntly tinkering, cleaning and checking and have masses of paperwork kept in A4 files.
I was very tempted to go look at the cheaper Silverose that Gmund had, i would have been looking to sell my 220 they were only looking to give 3.5k for it, it is worth subsatntialy more, massive history evry MOT and very original, has had some paint for stone chips etc
But is as clean as you will find for an 86 turbo, their car required some paint, all the belts etc recently done and they gave an honest appraisal over the phone....................refreshing !

Shot down for talking up original cars? Absolutely not, Scotty [;)]

I'm with you that an original car will always be prefered over "modified", and sadly that even includes something so easily restored to original as clear lenses on the indicators. It's a bit of a personal thing, but I really don't like bridge spoilers, let alone later 968 mirrors, handles etc. The later interior is nicer IMO, but please let me have a toast rack and amber lenses all-round!

Just as a good perspective on this, Mark, do you think the dealer would have paid you what your incredibly original car was worth, including what it would cost to get another car in to that condition? If there is a car out there worth £20K yours would be my first suggestion. [:)]

The time to sell is not now,but dealers have to make a profit so will not pay super top prices, the way to get a good price is to sell it privately but with that brings faff, risk and P.I.the A... Choices...nothing is for free!
Not selling mine just yet especially the black one,if I am lucky enough to get a bit old I have a dream of driving it with a cap and specs[:)]

Come on lets be serious , we can all say lock it away and one day it will be worth
loads of money but 20,000 really !!!!!

Still , a fool and his money and all that [;)]

The 20,000 is really Euors - so its cheap![:D]

All the cars at Gmund seem to be quite expensive, is that because they are simply better examples than elsewehere or because they overprice everything?

IMO, they don't sell shabby Cars.
Never hear any disappointments and considering how quick people are to complain, they must be doing something right.
So, to answer the question Bob, its because they are better examples.

I might also say, they seem to be on the ball with regards to "nice" stock. Many traders would not see the good in a really nice "whatever" in this case a really nice pair of Silver Roses. They do. and we all notice.

All just my Opinion, have not had occasion to deal there, but would not hesitate as regards quality.
