Side window trim removal

Hi all,

I'm having the lower half of my road car resprayed by Porsche approved bodyshop. It's not rusty but it has a few chips and scratches and as it's such a nice car I'd like to make it look new so to keep the cost down I'm going to strip off all the parts myself. I like the idea of that as I'll take my time and make sure everything that isn't perfect is replaced.

Anyway, my question is, to remove the black trim below the rear side windows, do I have to take the window out? If the window has to come out, is it something I could do myself ?

 
Hi Richard, yes you do need to take the rear side windows out (not bonded). I did it myself, but not the best instuctions below link, sorry. To answer your question yes you can do it yourself.

Once the window comes out, the black trim is screwed down by 4 I think very small screws. Not sure if the trims been off the car before, but mine was bonded onto the body, so this was cut with fishing wire.

Yes window out! (but they come out very easily..) the black trim is fairly fragile so take care removing... probably not a good idea to have them bead blasted... flat back by hand and have them painted satin black...

Looks like they are very easy to get out but how about putting them back in ?

Can I also do anything to encourage the screws to come out without breaking ?
