service dilemna

My car is due for a service in october, and i have been torn as to where to get this done locally. The car is 6 now so would qualify for 50% off labour at OPC but i have heard poor reports about them. It is still under extended warranty.
Tom Ferguson was my alternative whom i have heard good reports about.
However i have now heard about a company in Consett who specialise in performance cars (Aston Parts and Performance), locally they are well thought of and deal with all high end marques. As its just an oil service basically i am tempted to go with them. Any thoughts or experience of the company please or any other advice to guide my decision?

Hi Julie, I hear what you are saying.Does your warranty require main dealer servicing, if so then its JCT. If not, then your local company sounds ok for basic servicing. The main thing is to find somewhere that will not quote you for unnecessary work( main dealers seem to always go for new brakes! ).I can recommend Tom for honest work and his price will still be cheaper than discounted JCT.What he doesnt offer is a courtesy car and coffee lounge!

HI the warranty will be ok provided porsche parts are used. Tom Ferguson has quoted £235 inc vat and the aston martin shop £149.00 inc vat both cover the same standard minor service as per the porsche schedule and using porsche parts (mainly the oil filter!). visited the workshop today and chatted to the bloke there they both trained at Aston Marton Workshop,worked there for 11 years then set up in competition. They do quite a few boxsters and a couple of 911's as well as some older cars. They also prepare rally cars. Tom did say he would find me a car, and the aston lot will collect and deliver or drop me off. Tempted to go with the local lads.
 
Try DBM Specialist Cars in Ryton, Tyne & Wear. 0191 413 4444. Ask for Darren (owner) or Andy. Superb. Used them for over 20 years for Porsches and every other car I've owned. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

 
If at all possible, do try to build up a relationship with local small bsuinesses. Dealing with the principals of the business who value your payments and then learning from their experience rather than the company song will make for a better experience for all.
 
An oil service for £149 sounds too good to be true. The oil alone for a 911 or boxster is well over £100. Check if they are using Mobil 1 or non genuine parts. If they are then I will be taking my car there as well.
 
Eventually decided to go with OPC to keep book stamped. time will tell if this was right decision!!
The £149 service they did say they would be using genuine parts, if you want their details drop me an email.
