I've just been shopping around for a water pump as I may decide to change it when i do the belts and rollers this year and was surprised at the prices for a recon item. Why are they so expensive when you can get one in the States for $145??

anyone know of a good, but cheaper source of 944S2 new or recon water pump??

(not looked at Ebay yet)

Or maybe I should leave it alone if its not leaking?

Have you tried Bert @ Berlyn services, he is normally good value. I have a 2nd one that I changed
at fairly low mileage that is sitting in my garage if you want a cheap one, but no idea how long it
will last.

Hi Peter, thanks for the offer of a cheap 2nd hand pump. If mine is working, I'm inclined to leave it be- the idea is to change as a precaution. Berlyn was the first place I looked and on this item he's more expensive {£340.75p (Inc.VAT) } than the OPC (Exeter) .

Thats a lot of money for a relatively simple part!

£150 is OK, still expensive for a water pump, but considering its a Porsche, £150 is ok.

But £340 is just ridiculous for an exchange item. They can't do that much to recondition something as simple as a water pump.

£340 sounds very steep - I'm sure mine was around £170 a couple of years ago
