Seat folding issues

I've got a problem with front and rear seats, all were fine until the weekend!

The rear won't latch, and both buttons on the top are stuck down. Is there a trick to it, or how do I get in to see if anything's broken or gummed up with crud?

The passenger seat back won't release on either latch. A bit of wiggling and it released once, but I can't repeat it. Are the two latched linked, is it a cable to the catches (presumably at the bottom of the seat back?), and again how to get to them or is there an easy fix?

Hi Paul,

Don't know about the back, but I swapped the backrests of my front seats (to stop the driver's side bolster wearing any more than it was) and I seem to remember having to disconnect and reconnect the cable. It was pretty easy and accessed by removing the plastic covers on the back rear corners of the seats. With those covers off you should be able to figure out what's wrong.

Thanks, Steve.

It was pretty easy

Always words that make my heart sink! Rheumatoid arthritis and Porsche seat repairs don't mix terribly well. [:D]

A job for a quiet day, or it's in for service in May. Bets on whether I've fixed it by then?

Rear's more of a pain, but even that I could live with if it's not a simple fix.

Like Steve says, if the shoulder height release catches aren't working, it's probably because one or both of the wires have come un hooked. IIRC there's 3 x cross head screws holding the covers on, remove both of these to gain access to the catches.

The other trick I find is to apply a little forward or backward pressure to the headrest, whilst raising one of the levers - tends to help fold the seat.
