hi

i removed my seats today as they are going to the trimmers for a refurb and the drivers side had some aluminum block on the runners is this normal or was it just to raise the seat a little for a previous owner....do i need to refit them?

My 924S has them, along with a sunroof and I can barely fit in the car! Im going to remove them when I fit the new interior.

my cousin has his own trimming business so my fronts seats have gone to him for a refurb they are the sports version and the driver side was really badly ripped the passenger side was not too ban though and the rest of the interior should just need a good clean

here is a pic of how bad they are ill post another when they are back from the trimmers

I bought a set of blocks for my passenger side. I'd not sat in it, and always had complaints. First time I was a passenger I couldn't see out properly, and there's no height adjustment on it. Several people have had the same issue and fitted them - don't throw them away!

You will need shorter bolts if you don't re-use them, obviously.

Early sports bolsters: my favourite seats. Assuming that your floor isnt FUBARd, then Id suggest that you replace the terrible early bolts with some stainless M6 cap headed bolts. As well as being smarter and of a far higher quality, youll be able to easily tighten/loosen them with a hexagon drive; rather than struggling for hours with a 10mm spanner... For ease Id buy them from 'boltmeup' on t'eBay where theyll cost you about £2:00 (Item number: 150308287593).

yes i can see what you mean the passenger side had no blocks just the drivers i will just have to try with and without when i get the seats back

oh no i got m6 x 12 will they be too short?? if so i could email him to ask if he could swap them for the longer ones[;)]

Back from the trimmers, yes it has took along time but i did tell him i was in no rush [:D] as you can see he has put pvc on the front of the seats so that he could use the good material on the passenger seat to repair the bottom rear of the drivers seat

All in not a bad job alot better that they were he said that he had re used bolster material from another job that had come in they were having there seats re coverd in leather so it is an exact colour match

and it came to £50

The important question then: whatd he have charged us as a walk-in job?

I dont know the answer to that one

He does have a steady stream of work from coach company's, car/van owners, boat builders etc I think he has even done the odd pub

He does have a good reputation around these parts

If you ever think you could use his services just put Ballam and Thurlow in Google and you will get his contact details

Hi, can I ask if you took the seats complete or did you remove the seat covers for your cousin to repair and he possibly re-fitted them or did you re-fit them?

I'm dreading the thought of having to remove the seat cover, taking the seat out of the car is only 4 bolts and disconnecting the seat electrics, or maybe I'm thinking the seat cover is more difficult than it realy is?

Cheers

Gary
