Thanks to those who organised these two events, both the Doris, (Rosie), and I enjoyed them both a lot. The Scalextric started out with us both feeling a little unsure and nervous on who anyone is and whether we would have anything to talk about, however having been immediately crammed into a room the size of shoe box and having a high def close up view of Liam's left ear, that worry soon went away. The evening was then around trying to work out what the best model car was and initially chasing a Porsche, sans rear wing, in a white Ford Capri cop car (with flashing light) which was most enjoyable. Personally I thought the DeLoreon (sp?!) was the best.
Rosie did really well and I was full of excuses but would definitely go back!
We then went to Great Northern Classics morning on Sunday, after I got both the time and the address wrong, despite it being clearly laid out in the invite we arrived in Derby at 8:30, so after apologising to the Doris who was really happy about an hour less sleep and missing breakfast I managed to make that better by introducing her to the cafe at Great Northern Classics, which given she is from Blackpool felt more midlandsy but that's fine.
GT3 friend! there were about 100 cars registered and by the looks most of them turned up - I tend not to take too many photo's as im old school and simply forget whilst taking it all in, there are a few though. There was a great selection of cars and people - would highly recommend.
Then we found ourselves coincidently next to the Coopers so rather than sit in the traffic we swung into there for some lunch, had the whole conservatory to ourselves (was very busy downstairs) and had a great meal whilst simultaneously helping my mission to rid the world of ducks.
