I was pissed off to see that they werent restricting the number of the initial batch and also that they werent shipping internationally. 100 units doesnt go far when gobshite Americans are ordering multiples.

I had a look but am not convinced by the attraction. They are heavy lumps of things to be putting right at the highest point of the car.

I notice Pilkington Classics in the States have done a recent production run of these glass roof units.
Any thoughts folks? I sort of like the idea

I was trying to get hold of one but they were way to expensive , if you could get hold of one in the first place . I do like , did they make two different ones ? bronze tint and a black tint ? I have only ever seen the Bronze tint one .

From what I read they only ran bronze JC, and the full run was 800 units? I have never noticed the roof weight handling difference when driving a turbo S to a non-sunroof car. (but I agree it is there) Some-one will stick one on e-bay[8|] George 944t

Crossed purposes, I suspect. Pilkington have started to remanufacture them. Made of polycarbonate and with an improved (ie working) seal, theyre available for far less than the used old tat was selling for before.

http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/680660-pikington-will-make-saratoga-tops-again.html They weigh less than the FRP original top, too.

So I see from the recent posts over there. That's the opposite of what I'd believed from other sources back a couple of years ago when all of this was starting. I thought they were glass and therefore much heavier than the composite panel. Was the original Saratoga top glass or polycarbonate?

Not sure about the original materials but I associate Pilkington with Glass. The recent production is certainly Glass. They look quite nice and if they seal properly I would be interested. George 944t

Theyve perservered Chris. Im interested and I have followed the RL thread since its inception, but I really dont want to have to go to those lengths to get one here.
