S2 Decat ?

Anyone done it ? the heat shield on mine is no more, looks simple enough to knock something up, heard it needs some kind of resonator instead of the cat otherwise they sound horrible.

Yup I did it when I replaced the whole system around 8 months ago. No problems, no emissions implications and no warning lights. Go for it!

Get any local exhaust place to replace it with a straight piece of 2.5" stainless pipe. Makes it slightly louder, but not boy racerish and will cost circa £100 fitted depending on your location

Jonk, what did you use to bypass a kit or did you create your own ?

Custom stainless system throughout by a firm in Walsall. As far as I can see its just a piece of stainless steel pipe.

Did mine many years ago. With the stock rear section the S2 has consistently been tested at 88 to 89 dB so plenty quiet enough. I reckon on the Dansk rear section its a bit louder.

I had a replacement for the resonator on my early car, along with a Dansk it was quite fruity, especially with polycarbonate windows all round.

Did mine a couple of months ago and I have a DANSK s/steel rear section.Not really happy with the sound the system makes very throaty noise and at full power very noisy , just not right.And I don't think it makes any difference to performance , if anything feels strangled.
I am going to put back to standard.

Decatted mine a coule of years ago, passed 2 MOT's with no issues or advisories, would reccomend that you do it, I have never regretted it.

I fitted cargraphic rear box, very pleased with result, looks like original rear exhaust tube although have to clean it now as it is Stainless steel which didn't have to do before. the Cargraphic rear box gives a nice understated bass tone with out being obtrusive.

Cargraphic although I believe are a German company - Their exhausts are made in Honiton Devon.

I have noticed a crack in my Cat...Going to remove it and just find some exhaust pipe to fit(hopefully),unless there is a cheap aftermarket bypass that someone recommends.

Phoned MIJ exhausts(ebay)they made me a stainless section with 18"silencer for £56delivered. I cut the cat off at its very front edge to leave a stub of pipe(1 inch) behind the front mounting. Cut the pipe behind the cat and clamped it on. I did have to remove the rear section as was a sod to connect to the stub. Not started the car yet so don't know what it will sound like,but it looks spot on

My whole system is MIJ. Delighted with it. £250 all in for down pipe back.
