RS clutches

Seem to wear my clutch plate out every couple of years, despite it being correctly adjusted. I'm running an Sachs "rally" plate in a RSR cover on a mildly tweaked (250bhp) RS spec motor. Car is driven on trackdays and sprints. Before anyone say's I'm not riding it either!!

Is this rate of wear normal, or does anyone have a better recommendation for a clutch combination?

I know this isn't the repsonse you wanted . . . but might be worth giving Russell Lewis (tech advice) a call on 01428 602911 (RSR Engineering).

thanks for the tip, phoned Russell and his advice was invaluable. He advised checking the flywheel which I did and found approx 0.5mm of "dish" within the area of the clutch contact. Flywheel's now off and will get reskimmed before I waste any more clutches!!
 
Always interested to hear these bits of info. Isn't it always the simple things we overlook when faced with problems on our cars [:)]
 
How long should a clutch last ? I know it depends on your driving style, and on my 1980 SC ( 188 bhp ) it packed up ( suddenly ) on a Norfolk country road at 55K. Fortunately, I could limp to my destination ( brought up on a 1932 J2 MG with crunch box ), and not too far from an OPC.
On my early 2.4 bought at about 58K, clutch changed at 78K ( not too sure why, but that's what the guy advised, and the engine was out anyway for seals ) no problem is evident at 109K, so fingers crossed ! Experiences welcomed by all and sundry, I guess.
