Hi All,
Just a quick post about our cracking day at the RPM open day in North Yorkshire. Despite the horrendous rain and hurricane winds myself, Wendy, Steve and Shirley braved the elements sans Boxsters. We met at Stockton and then headed down to RPM, it took around an hour and twenty minutes to arrive at RPM. On arrival we were greeted with Coffee, cake and some superb Porsches. We were invited straight in to the garage/showroom and free to wander and look at the cars in the showroom and the cars they were currently working on. On the ramps were a 996 GT3, 996 Turbo S Cabriolet, 997 Carrera 4S cab and to my disappointment the white 987 Spyder I had come to look at which had sold the previous day[
]. After getting over the disappointment with more coffee and xmas cake we set about chatting the guys at RPM and having a good look around at the cars they have for sale. Steve was quite taken with the 996 4S cab which was in superb condition. I was taken by the Cayman R that had just come in (see photos) but unfortunately it has a roof. There was also Speed Yellow 2.7 Cayman for sale with some very nice extras on it for a snip at 20k with only twenty thousand miles on it. Or how about a 911 966 in blue in superb condition for only 17k. I had a good chat with Andy, one of the owners and he remembered me from when I bought my car from them a couple of years ago. Andy gave us an overview about the morning and how it was going to work.
So off we all went to see a demonstration of the latest paint protection film by ProFilms fitted to a demonstrator by Reep detailing. I used to have paint protection on our Elise and its come on leaps and bounds in seven years. The stuff they were demonstrating was near invisible, the guy doing the demonstration took a wire brush and heat gun to the film which didn't leave any visible marks, amazing stuff. They fitted a bonnet section a car and once on it was invisible. The stuff is guaranteed for 10 years against UV damage which can make other films appear yellow after time. They did say that was best added to new paint work or body work that has had a respray. Steve went over to have a chat and see how much it was for the Boxster kit but everyone else had the same idea so he gave up. After the demo, Reep held a demo on how to safely wash your car, we did't go to that one as its one of my obsessions; we popped back over to RPM for more coffee and cake.
It was a cracking morning out despite the weather and If anybody knows the garage they will know Gmund cars is literally around the corner. It was wall to wall Porsche's from 991 GT3 RS's to Cayman R's, Spyders, Boxsters and lots of 911's. We also saw the best comb-over in years (unfortunately no photos!)
Pity about that Spyder!
The one that got away!
Go on Steve treat yourself, it's an investment!
Mellow yellow!
Cayman R
A little bit of everything
Porsches galore
