Road Tyres for 968 Sport

Are there any commonly held views as to which tyres best suit the 968 Sport for road use? I'm not tracking the car and I'd probably want the best wet weather performance, low road noise. Cost isn't a big issue other than to note marginal and debatable improvements compared to leap in price does not hold much attraction! At the moment the Continental Contisport Contact2 are the recommendation.

Thanks

Henry

Goodyear Eagle GSD3s are the best all round tyre, but they are getting hard to get as they are ceasing being made. I have just fitted my 968 with Toyo T1Rs which are nearly as good as the Goodyears but they do not transmit the same level of feel on motorways as the F1s, however in the dry,wet and A roads they are just as good. I have a little experience of Conti sport 2's on my 944S2 and they are ok, but IMO not a patch on the Goodyears or Toyos.

Michelin Pilot Sport (excellent but expensive), Bridgestone S02's (hard wearing, good in wet, difficult to source tho), Falken 452's (cheap, but good).

A friend of mine runs this site which may be of interest: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/

Personally, i'd avoid Continentals. But opinions on tyres are highly subjective.

cheers

Michelin Pilot Sport 2`s, absolutely brilliant wet or dry even excellent on track for a road tyre. A touch noisy on poor road surfaces but one of the best tyres for "feel" through the steering on the 968. Managed to get 22k out of the rear tyres, fronts now done 25k and still some left yet.

If you value wet grip, then I have a vote for the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas that I fitted to my 944 Turbo a couple of months ago. I chose them due to the excellent review they got in the Evo magazine tyre test, especially for their wet weather behavour.

So far, I have done around 1000 miles on them and now that they are properly 'scrubbed in', the grip and feel is very impressive, together with pretty low road noise.

Also got them for great price from Camskill Tyres on the net.

Best of luck
