Revs - 6 speed vs Tip

Guys,

can someone please check their owners manual for the rev graphs. I want to know the road speed at 1000rpm for the 6 speed vs. the Tiptronic

I have not got my owners manual at hand (my car is in the body shop), this has the road speed vs. rev graphs in each gear.

If you look at the gearbox and final drive ratios, you get

6 speed 0.84 and 3.44
Tip 0.74 and 3.73

I calculate the rear wheel revs of the 6 speed as 81% of the Tip - 6 speed is higher geared

Doesnt seem correct though.

Nic,

In 6th gear, the road speed of the manual at 1000 rpm is 40 km/h. The speed of the tiptronic S in 5th gear is about 43 km/h. In 3rd gear at the same engine speed (1000 rpm) the road speed of both cars is around 22 km/h. It' s difficult to read road speeds in lower gears from the graphs given.

Why do you ask?

Boxster S

Manual gear 6 is 0.84:1 Axle 3.44:1 Therefore effective ratio is 0.84 x 3.44 = 2.89
Tiptronic gear 5 is 0.74:1 Axle 3.73 Therefore effective ratio is 0.74 x 3.73 = 2.76

Manual gearing is therefore 95.5% of Tiptronic

Mph per 1000 rpm seems to be about: Manual 24.8 Tiptronic 26.0 from graphs

It is not easy to interpret the graphs that accurately as they are a bit small. The Tiptronic is also 40Kg heavier so this may affect the tyre rolling radius slightly.

Hope this helps

Nic,

More importantly why is the Boxster in the body shop ?

Not another case of ' Doczi' s corner' as at Bedford?

Best regards

Guys,

thank you for this info!! and yes, unlike on this Forum, I didnt " see" the post (actually a pillar in the parking garage) and it is costing me dear.

Should be ready today or tomorrow, and in any case, saves me having to wash her this week.
