Just now on my way 2 work I got rear ended at a stand still. I think I was out off gear and off the brake, but I can't rember. There was a double decker bus in front then car then me. so was quite easy 2 see the traffic had stopped. There this new set up on 40 mph road where left lane had 2 go head on 2 right lane, then a few hundred meters its reversed and so on about 5 times. This in in between motorway speed roads. Guess the idea is 2 prevent speeds over 40mph. Very stupid and the 1st push in 2 the other lane is about 5 car lengths off a round about.

Visual damage seems minmal 4 me. Split paint and mark on the lower valance. 944 T. I would suspect the clapable shocks 2 need replacing as well. Is they likely 2be any other damage from the shunt?

The drivers car vauxhall Astra bumpers hanging off and crushed and head light are miss aligned.

Really really sorry to hear this Terry [] it happened to me in November last year and my car was very nearly written off by the insurance. Take out the carpet and have a look if the rear wheel well is distorted

Do you have an agreed value classic policy? It really helps when you argue to get it repaired.

Hell Terry. Don't make any rash decisions or proclamations to your insurer. Take your time to investigate the damage properly and get it up on a ramp.

Not good news Terry. Sorry to hear it.

I've been rear-ended twice in my 944 (both times within about 6 months of each other!) It seems that the bumper, shocks and lower valence are all easily replaceable and as long as there is no damage to the shell or boot floor then the repair is easy. The long strip across the back below the numberplate (with the P O R S C H E lettering on it - don't know the proper name for this part) is harder to repair but isn't structural.

Put some photos up if you can and keep us posted. I presume the twit who drove into you left his details and whatnot?

Oli.

Sorry to hear that....I was rear ended (write off) in my first 944. Agree with Paul: check the wheel well, but also the boot floor. On mine the wheel well was touching the gearbox, and there was a hog in the boot floor...slight crease in the roof too, but your impact doesn't sound that bad. Hope you've got an agreed value policy.

Thanks 4 the speedy replays and horrior story's. looks 2 be paint work. Iv romeved the rear bumper the back pannle fine clasp able shocks fine. There a 10" split in the bumper behind the rubber.

Been 2 spray shop, didn't see the owner as he not around, but he usually cuts me a good deal. Got a quote off £150+ vat and have collect the money from the other driver.

Am at a lost from the running about, 10ltr off petrol

However there maybe a silver lining. Got a quote 4 £400 in the summer 2 paint front and rear bumpers, hoop spoiler and wax oil the sills and repaint.

So £150 from this. Plus the halfords cheque Iv still got 2 repire the damage my black S should cover the work.

However no so sure if I'm as keen as I was 2 run a de rubbered bumper now. Wonder if it worth reforcing a de rubbered bumper as I think there's a metal base under the rubber.
