I have a 1979 SC which has been in dry storage since an engine bay fire in 1991. Only records 42k miles and fairly rust free, except for the engine bay & rear wings. Probably beyond my skills to sort out the rear end, so any suggestions as to who could be recommended to do a body restoration at reasonable cost? I live near Carlisle, so the north or midlands would be good. Any suggestions would be most helpful.
Thanks

Have you asked in your local region forums? Might get more luck there. Good quality bodywork isn't model / marque specific, although someone with Porache experience and a good reputation in your region would obviously be better. Might be worth looking up some Aston Martin etc. sites? Beetle particularly. Similar shape / layout

Try asking Dave - 07775 752668 (They are based near Rochdale, Lancs, but might know someone closer to you who could help. Worth having a chat to see how they could help. Their email is speedy.racing@virgin.net
I have no connection with them, and the usual caveats apply, but have seen the quality (high!) of their work on another forum.
Good luck getting the car back on the road.

Many thanks for your comments, I spoke to Neil Rainger & subsequently called to see him on Friday. He had a selection of cars (mainly Porsches) in various stages of repair and I was impressed by his attitude, knowledge and quality of work. So I have booked the car in for the main body restoration. I will post pictures as the restoration progresses.
