Is it at all likely that cars such as the 996 C4S are likely to become sought after classics and hold some future value greater than the current price. I appreciate the 996 models were produced in greater numbers than the 993's that command high prices but I have wondered if good examples of 996 cars such as the C4S might be worth more in the future than present.......or am I being overly optimistic........I think I know the answer [8|].
 
IMO 996 Carreras, Turbos, Mk2 GT3s, will never be classics and will continue to devalue like any volume produced sports car. The GT2 and GT3RS will probably be the ones to have some rarity value as is showing in the values of Mk1 GT3s.

Having said that, rightly or wrongly, I think a good C4S will be easier to sell than a narrow-body Carrera in the future, purely because of the looks.

I think that the 996 C4S will appreciate so much that I will have enough to retire on in 15 years!!! Seriously the 996 C4S is considered a looker and would be in my opinion be easier to sell over the narrow bodied cars as has been stated. I do not think we will see the appreciation that the 993 RS has enjoyed for example due to the air cooled reasons and purity of the drive etc.

Will be keeping mine for some time unless there is a nice 997 TT on the market at the right price!

Seriousy though, why, Richard, do you think the 6GT3 Mk1 will be more valuable than the 6GT3 Mk2? Surely the latter is better in all respects, (apart from the low car tax category) or have I missed something?

Rarity. Pure & simple.
 
Everyone keeps quoting the 993 as the last of the air cooled cars - what you 996 guys don't seem to take into account is that your cars are the first in line of Water Cooled 911 variant. A keen eye for limited production numbers/models history with all paperwork, sensible mileage and even rare colours could be to your benefit in years to come. [8D]
