Replacing Bose Entertainment system for more modern wireless apple play system on 2007 model

Has anybody had any experience with this? i have been doing some research and having Bose in my car makes it more difficult i know. I want to retain the amp and speakers and you can by a kit that is expensive. Do you retain funtionalty of the steering wheel controls and does the system work well after installation, sound etc. The kits out there are they easy to fit? I've been looking on you tube and does not seem a problem for me. But i cant seem find anything with using the kit with a Bose system.
