After deciding that being as I could raise the seat but not drop the seat , I figured the switch would be a good place to look. I repaired it as follows:-
1. Remove the fuse or isolate the battery. Undo the 2 screws that hold the cover plate on, and the 2 screws that hold the bracket to the seat.
2. You can then push the switch out by carefully pushing the two tabs
3. The switch itself is held together by 4 plastic tabs. Lever it apart carefully, 2 ball bearings and 2 springs will make a bid for freedom. Have a magnet on a stick on standby
In the picture I have re fitted the back plate and cover to avoid losing bits.
4. Spray plenty of switch cleaner in, open and close the contacts repeatedly with a screw driver, then apply some grease.
5. Now the tricky bit, Apply grease to the small springs so that the ball bearings stick and push the assembly back together.
I found it best to lower the button section into the housing the ball bearings will stay put with the grease. It took about 5 attempts to get it to go together with both bearings in place.
6. Put the fuse back and test, if it works push the switch back in the seat and thats it.
