]Had excellent work done by Solus Centre Reading but repair was very straight forward ie New Rear PU car was Arctic Silver and fit and finish were superb......

I had my car' s stone chips repaired for damaged paint on the bonnet, at Lancasters Bodycentre, Harlow. (Bonnet was done as was the Front PU and the 2 x Front wings to get the match right)
It was estimated to take about a week and was booked in well in advance.
It was there for 1 month, I had no progress calls and eventually chased them to get it back.
When I did get it back(delivered to my home), it went straight back that night (on said delivery truck) to be done again properly.
They had it for another week. Still not 100% pleased with it.

I plan to use Spraymaster of Swindon in the near future for some stone chip work.
Can you expand on what you meant when you state that you car " went back on each occasion to get the job finished properly" ?
What didn' t they finish off ?

1. Pieces of masking tape left between panels.
2. Edges of the bonnet were still in undercoat.
3. Protective panels in wheel arches not replaced properly.
4. Overspray on hood mechanism (still there actually).
5. Incorrect details on Porsche Guarantee Certificates.
6. White paint on hard-top.
7. Large deep marks on rear wing which looked like a birds egg had fallen on car.
Have to say that the paint finish was very good though but it doesn' t take long for the chips to come back!

Thank you for all the replies. Its nice to know where to avoid. Body work repairs are the area of Garage work I dread most.
The reason I asked was that I recently had some repair work carried out by Selby' s in Nottingham. Although the paint work seems ok, its the details which are most dissapointing.
The gaps around the panels are different from one side to the other.
The door does' nt line up properly.
The window does' nt line up properly allowing wind noise around the seal.
The boot lid is very difficult to close.
A dent appeared in the drivers door.
The trim which was removed to carry out repairs was replaced with paint damage.
The car has been back five times with the faults pointed out and listed, yet every time it comes back exactly the same.
I' m begining to wonder if I am expecting too much, but the fault are easy to identify.
The sad thing is that the car was only three days old when it was damaged.

One other think I forgot to ask. Does anyone have anoying squeeks and rattles? Are Boxsters particularly prone to this? My car has so many squeeks and rattles from around the rear, it drives me mad. This, again could be due to the repairs but when I point this out, they tell me all Boxsters are like that.

When you get your car back from an official ' Porsche' approved bodyshop it should be as good as new and you should also get a guarantee card listing the repair work.
Don' t accept second rate work - I know it' s a pain and it wears you down but there is no excuse for these cowboys to fob you off. Start writing to reading or email this dude simon.thrussell@porsche.co.uk.
Squeaks and rattles do abound and can be attributed to various things.
Window rubbers, loose seats, sunblinds, seats pushed too far back, loose fittings in the hood mechanism to name a few.

18 months ago Shorade of cannock (nth birmingham)repaired £7,000 worth of damage to the front wing of my car.I was promised the work would be done in 3-4 weeks.It took approx 12.again I had to do all the ringing/chacing.but the car came back as good as new. infact we have gained 2nd place in a conours since.
