Removing short block engine

Hello!

Any advice or 'how to' remove a short block assembly from a 944 engine bay?

Ie cam tower (which has usual hook ring) and head are off, and I'd like to avoid reassembling the engine in order to get the block out.

Thanks

Drop the engine and lift the rest of the car over it. Quite easy to do. I take engines out like that on the ramp. Easiest way to do it.

Thanks Alasdair, I'm going to try attach a lifting ring to a bellhousing bolt so I can attach it to the hoist. I can't get the jack under the car to raise it...

If you are going to remove the engine up they way, then you should remove the radiator and the headlight assembly as it is really tight comming out the top.Much easier to drop the whole lot out the bottom while the engine is still attached to the crossmember.

IIRC the tow hook is supposed to be strong enough to raise the car with. It is in the middle but with two rear wheels on ground, it shouldn't wobble around....

I believe the Porsche WSM covers this technique - electronic copies are easy to find....

I bought a pair of adjustable ramps and wouldnt now be without them - brilliant bit of kit

Hey I like those Paul, mind if I ask how much they cost?

Thanks for the link Paul, the hydraulic ramps look ideal for my particular car, it's err very very low at the front.
Price not to bad either

Thanks
