Hello

I have an issue with my remote locking and unlocking not working, i have changed the battery but this has not helped. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what was the fix?

Many thanks Phil

It may be that the keys have simply "reached the end of the available rolling codes".

Have a read of this - if it's the above problem then fix is new keys.... but there are other things to try

Worth checking if the LED lights up when pressing a button on the remote. I found the battery reversal reset worked on mine a couple of years ago but depends on what the symptoms are.

If your problems still continue, send your key fob to Keyfobrepair.co.uk they sorted mine out with some new micro switches @ a very reasonable cost. A lot of guys on Boxa.net have used them with a good rate of success.

Thanks guys very helpful the led does flash up on the key so I would guess the key would is ok and maybe the sensor in the car ?

I personally wouldn’t guess anything, if you look @ Keyfobrepair website they offer no fix no payment. Their charge of £35 is somewhat less than the £350/£400 cost for a replacement key.

This could be a long shot, but may be worth checking.

My 2001 C4 had this issue many years ago. After much searching and head scratching, the guys at Autofarm identified an additional mini fuse on the central locking/alarm module under the passenger seat. Apparently not all 996 models had this fused version (?)

Hope this is helpful

Many thanks, it is an intermittent problem and just seems to have got worse to a point you have to use the key to open the door.

Hello Stephen I looked these guys up and they are only approx 20 min from me so will pop in with my keys and see what can be done as think this would be a good starting point.

thanks again for your help

keyfobrepair are well recommended - good place to start - but if both keys work sometimes - I am not sure that fobs would be a root cause.
