Remote Garage Door Opener

Hi

I have recently bought a Cayman S after 11 years with a 2.5 Boxster. I decided to included the option of the remote garage door opener but cannot get the car to accept the signal. The garage doors are made by Cardale and I have a grey remote device which is used to open and close them. I have followed the Porsche instructions to the letter but nothing happens.
Has anyone else had a problem?
I will eventually go back to the garage but first I want to see if the problem is the remote or something simple that I can fix.
Any theories or help would be appreciated.

Hi Roger, I had huge problems getting mine to 'learn' following the manual to the letter did no good at all. In the end I had to use the teaching function of the door opening system. If I remember correctly I had the garage door open with the car parked just outside then pressed the teach button on the garage mechanism, then pressed and held the button in the car. I did this a few times with each button as my system cycles and sometimes when I push a button it doesn't open the door so I just push one of the others. BR Rich
 
I have a March 2005 Homelink which will not control the rolling code on my gates and I have been told it is a software issue that can't be sorted!
 
There are some service bulletins that the OPCs hold which give strange programming instructions. The Homelink fitted to my 911 worked first time but I couldn't get the same system in the Cayenne to work. Eventually the OPC came to the house and changed the Country code before programming and that did the trick. You can download more detailed instructions fron Johnson controls who manufacture the Homelink system. It can be so frustrating trying to programme but I think your problem is with the Homelink rather than the opener. If you continue to have problems and the OPC can't help, I think I still have a photocopy of the various Bulletins and I can scan and e mail them to you.
 
Thanks for your replies. I have contacted the manufaturer of the control system for the garage doors and he told me there is a problem with the Homelink system. Jaguar also have similar problems. The signal from the remote cannot be copied or cloned but he said there is a way around this with another reciever but advised I contact Homelink. I could not follow the technicalities but I have contacted the Porsche technical people to see if they have a solution. I will also contact Johnson controls now I know they are the manufaturer of Homelink. I intend to sort this out if possible and will post the solution when known. Thanks again Rog
