Reliable professional specialist in the north? (2025)

My 944 requires a couple of major jobs (clutch and cambelt), and I'd appreciate specialist recommendations from fellow owners please?
I'm based in Tyneside but, given the magnitude of the aforementioned jobs, I'll happily travel a decent distance north, south or west if needed.
I do have experience of some that haven't responded to past phone/email enquiries (I won't name them); instinct tells me if they can't get that fundamental aspect right, then I really shouldn't be chasing them to give them my business...
I expect similar questions may have been asked before, hence I've put 2025 in the thread title so that the up-to-date replies will be helpful in future.

Hi Silvergrey,
Welcome & good luck as a new member.
I had all the mechanical works on my 944S2 done by Tom Barker & his team at Augment Automotive.
Belts / seals / camber chain & tensioner / wheel bearings / front lower struts / front coilovers. They’re west of Gloucester so a bit of a step for you but they’re very knowledgable and dedicated to 944s. Hope this helps. (Note I have no affiliation with them other than as a satisfied customer). Cheers Stumpjumper.

Eldavo should be along shortly, he's not far from your part of the country I think. The specialist he uses could probably do those jobs.

Tom Ferguson Gateshead, he is the most knowledgeable guy especially on the older cars family run independant for over r0 years. He bought and maintained my 944 Turbo S, looked after my 993 turbo, 996 c4 cab until I moved down to Darlington. Rates were very competitive

D&G Porsche Specialists are not only very close to you but also well versed with 944s - Chris Stone is somewhat of a Transaxle specialist and even with my 15+ years around 944s and being the assistant register secretary he has still picked up on things I've missed.

Link to their work in my other thread

I recommend Strasse in Leeds and Unit Eleven in Warrington, which are two of the most trusted specialists within a few hours of Tyneside, both are well-reviewed for transaxle expertise and professional service.
