Reducing speed limit to 50mph on Single Carriageway Roads. Please Respond

Good news - the SNP plan to the cut speed limit to 50mph has been dropped due to overwhelming opposition. Ninety percent of responses to the consultation opposed the proposal.
They will though increase the speed limit for HGVs to 50mph on single carriageways instead of the present 40mph.

So thank you to everyone who responded to the consultation. sometimes they do listen!

It has been 50 mph for HGV elsewhere for a few years now but you’d never know as most still drive on the limiter’s 56 mph on single carriageways……
I’ve been in a tachograph centre where I saw immaculate lorries with rusty steel wheels with barely legal tyres on the drive axle in for calibration. When set to just shy of 57 mph and then back home changed for the usual full tread tyres, they can get to 59 mph…..
