Found a Delete Bung £20 seems expensive?

Got rid of mine. Replaced with a flat bolt and the original washers painted black: Here's a picture which was taken in frost.

There's a nyloc nut on the inside and it's sealed with something or other. Can't remember what.

You can buy a bung for it from somewhere, i was looking at it the other day as my rear wiper motor is broke anyway (works its way through 360'). Cant remember where it was though!

The Promax bung is a really nice solution though. Best value-for-money change I made to my last car.

£20 for a 25mm blind grommet that would cost about 15p doesn't sound like a great solution to me - or is there more to it?

It's just an aesthetic thing. The Promax bung is a nice piece of machined alloy, coated a good shade of black, sealed with a rubber O-ring that seats into a machined groove. It's well-made and a perfect fit. It looks good. Looks OEM, in fact.

I know it's a personal preference, but I would never be happy with anything on my car looking home-made. I want it to appear perfectly engineered, as far as possible.

Horses for courses, I think.

That is strange, am pretty sure vertical is the "correct" orientation. Perhaps the cars in question have at some point had the mechanism removed and put back a different way either on purpose or by mistake ?

ot all excited last week with an 89 white lux for sale (2.7) really local as well with less than 80K and reasonable service history, only to find out that it had an ebay 'reserve' of £4k.... dashed!!!

Might be worth getting in touch with the seller direct. I've rarely bought from e-bay other than sellers who were surprised by the scams they found when the auction had finished, and were glad to deal with a real person.

I don't think the rear wiper was ever like that on any factory 944. Maybe it is broken and stuck in that position or it's been modded for some reason - can't imagine why. Having the wiper in that position will ruin the effect of the rear spoiler and it looks rubbish.

However if it has been modded then you could swap side the motor and wiper is mounted on to suit a RHD car. Would require drilling a hole in the other corner of the hatch and a bit of wiring re-routing!

I d guess at broken but it doesnt really matter - over 50 and the rear screen is self cleaning.
Ive got a longer blade on mine but it is only used when Im reversing out of the drive - it lives outside so to me it is useful. lots of folk remove it but should be an easy fix.

I wonder of they are similar to same vintage 911s, on mine you have to turn the rear wiper off when it is near vertical, otherwise it doesn't park in the correct place. I have parked it in the wrong place once. Took me days to work out what was wrong with it, every time I went in the garage it just looked odd. I guess the mechanism is nadged.

The 944 always parks vertically correctly.

Usually, with the blade, comes a set of adapters that includes a new pin and holder which fits into the arm. There's a little toggle on the arm

I think you can get a box of adaptor bits for the Bosch wipers. Noticed this last week when I picked up a pair for the front wipers. Good luck, for some reason changing wiper blades is a real hassle for me... Always turns into something resembling the Krypton Factor....!

Any blade will fit it. Keep the pin out of your old one and stick it in a new blade!

Can be a bit fiddly but if you know the pin separates from the blade you'll get there. The pin releases from the arm with a little lever that you can see in your picture, again it will probably be stubborn but knowing it's meant to separate there will help you!

How old are you Andy[:D]

Half the wipers used to be like that!

39 and I really don't think I've seen these before. Most of my non-company cars over the years (and therefore much older by choice[:)]) tended to be an array of 60's minis and some MK1 Golfs, never had these fittings on those, I must have been missing out [:D]

Had another look today as not sorted this yet. Have you done this mod recently? The hole the pin sits in is a few millimetres smaller in diameter than the two holes on the new wiper blades I've fitted to the front, so I don't think this will work unless I'm missing something.

Otherwise, where can you get new wiper arms from? Everyone seems to do blades but not arms

Cheers
Andy
