Rear spoiler fix

As we 993 owners know the rear spoiler flexes at the top due to heat build up and does not fit flush when retracted. I purchased a 6.35x6.35mm x 600mm long alluminium bar from flea bay for about £7 delivered. This bar fits perfectly into a recess on the underside of the spoiler, I bent the bar to the contour of the cars rear and bonded it.(well my body work guy did the bonding) although not perfect the gap is down to about 5mm where previously you could get your fingers under. I think if your willing to put the time in you will get it just about spot on. The bar has hardly no weight so wont affect the motor, it cant be seen and sits flush into the recess and is a pretty cheap fix. Ideally if I ever get a new spoiler I'll do the same before it goes on which should prevent the flex in the 1st place.

Well worth a try IMO

Thanks so much for posting this. Have been wondering how to fix this for a while now.

As you say, seems to affect all models except the C2S with its twin grill (and centre spine).

Can I ask how it was bonded ? Any pictures ? Would also be good to know which eBay seller (as I'm tempted to buy the same!).

Thanks in advance for any more details.

I think the seller was engineering supplies, I havent got pics as my body guy installed it for me when it was in getting abit of paint but if you feel under the spoiler you will find the recess. I'll get intouch and find out what he used. Ive also since found that someone has used the Porsche kit for a c2s and it fits the standard C2 perfectly but I think its about £40 but he states its perfect and by the pictures he posted it does look so.
You should be able to find his thread on 911uk under the 993 section.

Ive checked the adhesive out and its a PU structural screen sealer, think it was Terrason or Terrasol refrence PU8597. Hope this helps.
