rear shock lower bolt

It seems one of my rear shock lower bolts is missing from the coupe, might explain the lack of confidence i had last time I drove it - in the wet on nearly bald track rubber, Anyone got one?
Thanks,
Tony

That would account for the less that complete feeling from the rear.

Sure Sulzeruk or Elliot would have one.

If you can't get an original 2nd hand one, you should be able to get a standard metric bolt and large washer from an other hardware or bolt supplier - it may be that you'll need to remove the existing one to use as an example

Just look on PET and get the size and go to any nut and bolt supplier. It's nothing special just standard 8.8 grade.

... and what was the bottom of the shock absorber resting on without a bolt to keep things where they should be?

Oli.

no big deal ;) I drove several laps of the 'ring and back to the UK with one shock unattached - Some interesting rear wheel steer effects over bumps though

Well one of my ledas broke and I swapped back to a standard set of rears in a hurry, I think I might have then left it just torqued to go and look up the figures for the torque wrench. Probably about that time the phone rang or something and I forgot.

I had a feeling they were quite a large metric fine thread, will take the other one out and down to my local fastners place, but they tend not to have so much metric fine hardware available though.

Incidentally with no rear shocls the rear is really bouncy ( moved my lux without rear shocks and it was like a trampoline) with one disconnected it is nowhere near as bad.

cheers,
Tony

It is not a standard bolt, it is I think Metric Fine & the reason it may have fallen out is that it is very very easy to kill the thread on the bolt &/or insert. If the shock isn't at 90Degrees when you thread the bolt in then one bit will die. AMHIK!

M14 metric fine from memory, mine had stripped and fallen out.

I had 10mm extra thread inside the wishbone, so tapped the first part clean and ordered a longer bolt. Took three days for the bolt to arrive its quite specialist.

Tony, the bolt you need is an M14 x 1.5 x 85 (p#900 082 054 02) ~ £1.70ea from Porsche last time I checked.

Give Doug or Mark a call at Exeter PC (01392 822841), mention the forum and you'll have a nice fresh new one within a few days - freepost.

Not sure what Damper you are running, but one thing I did notice when fitting my KWs - the extra width of the lower body clamp meant the original bolts were barely long enough for adequate thread engagement.
After a quick search though PET I found an M14 x 1.5 x 100 flange hd (900 378 051 09 - normally used on a GT3) "" ordered it and it fitted perfectly.

When Davyboy had Ledas fitted to his Turbo it was a frequent occurance for the rear bolts to come loose. Took him a while to overcome the problem and then the bottom of the shock itself sheared in two (I think it had been damaged during it's dangling phase)

Thats just solved an issue. I had Leda's fitted to the back of mine just about 5 months ago and one of my bolts is missing. Amazingly I had used the car on track quite often and not noticed so it must have come off right at the end of a session!
Thanks for sizes as I can now go and sort the problem

Didn't come loose with the ledas on mine but I also suffered a failure - hence returning to the standard items as a temporary fix - the other was also loose so pretty sure I just forgot to torque then up. The ledas at full extension are shorter than the originals which I believe is why they break, been meaning to send mine off for repair and discussion on this point, but just keep tripping over them instead! Thanks for all the bolt advice, I am in Cyprus till Saturday but with luck a very good Samaritan is sorting the issue for me.
Tony

The standard ones are apparently out of stock, I borrowed one from the Cab for Silverstone, considering the GT3 option, might need a spacer with the standard shock.
