Rear demister - hatch connector fallen off

Hi

The connector which attaches to the hatch, H shaped iirc, has displaced itself, so hence the demister doesn't work. (It's still attached to the strut ok)

Does anyone know how to re-attach it? It looks as though it was soldered on before, which is something I'd rather avoid doing myself. So is it a garage job or has someone got an ingenious DIY solution.

If it you do have to solder, I suppose the surrounding glass would need to be heated up by say a hair dryer so that it doesn't cracker when the hot solder touches it? Yes I am a worry guts

Larger Halfords do a conductive glue to stick them on with, I've been told. I'd not think soldering was a good idea unless you have a spare hatch!

LOL - it might not!

I have the connections fallen off my van window, and someone told me that was the product to use. Let me know - I'll let you do the research! [:)]

Cheek - I will pop down to Halfords this evening and I may or may not let you know [8D]

If the original contact patch was nice and clean, and fluxed, and the loose contact was pre tinned you might well get away with soldering.

The contact patch is so thin it isn't going to wick heat away so, with a hot blob of solder on the iron, transfer should be almost instantaneous and the heat carried reasonably small..............still a risk though [;)]

D'oh!

I was told that it was only stocked by larger branches. I have one near me, so a few minutes arguing with a spotty 16-year-old assistant might be worth it!
