Rear Bumper Moulding

I've got my second estimate for the respray, and will be getting it done in a month or two. However, the nearside rear corner had a knock before I bought the car, and the black protective moulding is damaged. I'd rather get it fixed if I'm going to sort the rest of the exterior out.

In the PET it's in section 802-00, part 11, number 951 505 069 00. This appears to be another part that is near impossible to find new. I expect OPC supply it but would be surprised if it was available for under £200.

Does anyone know how to get hold of one of these? Is a breakers my best bet?

Should be plenty of secondhand ones knocking about, but try the dealers you may be surprised, then again you may need to be sitting down when being quoted, some parts are "cheap as chips" and other parts are silly [:(]

I bought one from Exeter OPC in March 2012 after I had a knock to the rear. It was £180 inc vat back then - looks lovely [8D]

Yeah, that's about the price I thought it would be [:(]. To be honest, if I am spending £2k on a spray, £200 on that isn't going to kill me and probably seems daft to scrimp on something which could affect the overall look. However, how likely is it that one from a breakers isn't going to be in a similar condition to the one I want to replace!

Allan Locke (loc944) replaced the one on his car and it was only about £40 from OPC Glasgow. Ask him

I purchased one for my 2.5 Lux back in Feb this year, £39.72 from Porsche Glasgow The ones for Turbos & S2 are different (wider) so may be more expensive.

Alan.

I assume that it include all the little bolts nice and shiny and ready to rot away again?

That is certainly very cheap and I should get one.

I don't think it came with the nuts for the studs but it's a std thread & didn't prove to be a problem finding some. I also covered them with grease so it'll hopefully come off again if needed in years to come!

I've emailed OPC in Colchester to get a price for the bumper and the moulding, I'll let you know what they quote.

I have my comedy quote from OPC!

Part 951 505 069 00 (Protective Moulding) = £153.80 + VAT
Part 951 505 387 01 (Rear Bumper) = £195.71 + VAT

I didn't ask for any club discount. Instead I expect I'll be knocking on Elliott's door for a second hand set.

In fairness that is what Paul said he paid over a year ago, so surely isn't that much of surprise?
