Re-acquainting myself with the joys of the 964!

Took a trip down to the Vosges to visit my partner's parents yesterday.

Nearly 500 miles of faultless running, just about a tankfull of fuel and the last 30km I was following a Ferrari 348 at slightly illegal speeds (ahem [;)])

Makes a change from the battery recharging weekly 10/15 mile jaunts.

Really looking forward to the run down to Le Mans next month...[8D]

The whole journey was 485 miles, the fuel light was on about 450, probably would have made it all the way but I was enjoying myself with the Ferrari & I didn't want to take the risk on fuel light bingo.

I worked my consumption out at a shade over 31mpg, a figure which certainly surprised me. stuck to 80ish mph on the autoroutes, apart from the play with the 348.

For the record, when I filled up with fuel on the way back, the fuel light just came on as I pulled up the pump & I brimmed with 64 litres, I can never remember how much fuel the tank takes, 76 or 80 litres, but now I know when the light comes on I have either 12 or 16 litres left..[8|]

Travelling down to Le Mans on the Thursday via Eurotunnel, staying on the same site as last year's official PCGB tour, if I'm allowed to say that...[:eek:]
 
[FONT=verdana,geneva"]77 litres is apparently the tank capacity. The 'reserve' level starts at 15 litres with the warning lamp activated then. Supposedly you get a range of approx 60 miles from then.

Driving down Thursday too to Le Mans - ferry to Dunkirk - stop off for lunch at Gace (popular stop-over for many). Also staying at the PCGB Village or whatever it should be called now. Will look out for you Colin, or flash me as I buzz by!

I'll be doing 80! (watch out for the police though...[:-])

We have been stopping off at Gace for the last couple of years too, so might see you there.

After Rouen I take the parallel A road through all the "B" letter towns to Gace. Yup see you there - what's your Calais arrival time?

Can't remember what time we are arriving at Calais yet, I'll keep you posted, but we tend to make it to Gace for a late lunch.

We'll probably avoid the N roads after Rouen until Gace & take the last leg on the Autoroute, possibility of a little convoy?
 
[FONT=verdana,geneva"]06:00 ferry from Dover, Dunkirk nearly 09:00 French time I guess. When you know your times let me know.

My fault too; I actually meant the N138 after Rouen all the way to Le Mans with 15 mins in Super U at Arnage (can't live by food and water only!) then a couple outside a bar on the main street there just wheel watching! [FONT=verdana,geneva"]

We recently drove there and left the kids (and the Volvo) with my parents....and continued for a week in Lake Garda in the 993.
Faultless and even the missus enjoyed driving it for 2 good stints.

You should have driven via Luxembourg and filled up with cheap petrol !

We were staying with my partner's parents on the other side of the mountain from Gerardmer, in La Bresse
