Radio not working

A few weeks ago I was unfortunately having to listen to one of my girlfriend's CDs in the 944 while we were driving to Leicester. Feeling my pain, the 944 decided to stop the CD player from working. The rest of the journey to Leicester and back was quite pleasant.

However, I now would like to listen to some of my own music in the car, and even though I've asked the car nicely it won't allow the radio to work.

Are there any obvious things I can check before I start trouble shooting a previous owners 'interesting' wiring for the radio?

Fuses (often one in line close to the radio) and if poss quick swap with another radio - they do go just like that.

Here is a link to some valuable information if you are in troubleshooting mode. At least it is easy to check power at your connector, etc.

When I had to change the stereo in my 91 S2 (came from Japan - the FM section didn't even tune North American frequencies tho I did get some AM stations) I was pleasantly surprised to find the original wiring intact behind the stereo. Actually appeared to have regular 6 pin connectors as well as connectors for the upgrade stereo with fader unit and speaker connections also.

The car had a Sony stereo when I got it and the Sony connector also neatly spliced in so all I had to do was pop in a new Sony deck and enjoy the tunes. They even wired the antenna amplifier correctly! [:D]

Thanks for the advice guys.

Don't ask me how, but it's working again. Fuse was OK. Maybe it decided it didn't like my girlfriends music and wanted to give the cd back!
