prop shaft and extended warranty

Got stung for £1000+ for a new propshaft incl fitting recently. OPC said the bearing was kaput and shaft needed replacing. Also said not covered by extended warranty but did not elaborate. On checking the warranty docs I see it does not include " drive shaft packing ". I suppose I've no leg to stand on ?
 
Tell them you'll have it loose without packing![:D] Seriously how many miles? A drive shaft should be good for at least 80k miles. It seems the "bumber to bumper" warranty doesn't cover anything that moves.
