Hi!
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to drive OPC Mid-Sussex' Cayman S demonstrator (in Speed Yellow). Whilst previously sceptical about all the claims made about the Cayman (and still believing it to be an overpriced Boxster Coupe), I was completely smitten by the car. It's rigidity is apparent from the outset - and doesn't need spirited track day driving to exploit; moreover, the driving experience beat my 997 Carrera 4S in all respects.
Although I placed a deposit (yesterday) against a '08 Model' Boxster S - because I prefer the Cayman convertible[
], I was most impressed and can see the attraction of the Cayman. It is clear to me why Porsche don't want to produce a Club Sport or RS model; undoubtedly, it would adversely affect 911 Coupe sales across the range. In the meantime, it is difficult to see why anyone would buy a 997 when the Cayman offers so much for so little.
So you Cayman drivers, enjoy your cars - as you made the right choice; however, the convertible model is also worthy of consideration![
