Unless the car and docs are in front of you, don't send money in the post. Look at the guys feedback as well, lots of negatives! If it was me considering the car, I wouldn't be.
His wording of the advert is very dodgy, small jobs needing done but he wants to leave it original. WTF??????
Alasdair

I always treat the write up as nonsense anyway. "Wants to leave it original" roughly translates to "can't be arsed to pump money into a car I'm going to sell". Plus I ignore all the bluster in adverts, my company sales team are just as bad......

Top spot with the ebay ad by the way, he probably hoped I wasn't going to look again, and to be fair I hadn't due to so much going on at home. That ad is very different to the one I won, and now mentions some rather nasty engine problems. Looks like I'm walking away. That explains his reluctance for me to see the car. To be fair, I would never buy a car I hadn't had someone look at, and was only considering it properly again because I had a guy willing to take a look for me.

Perhaps also consider an investment this thread[;)]

[:D] My old boss clicked one of those "refresh your bank details" emails, then had a fit when £25k was cleared from his account. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.......

Haha.... Now if I was his boss I'd seriously question his ability to be a boss of anyone...:)

states it has a 2.7 engine?

I did raise that with him before I bid, asking if it had a later engine fitted, and he says he listed it wrong thinking it was a 2.7 when it was a 2.5. I did wonder though, as usually you know the engine size of your own car!!!

And despite that, the new ad still has it listed as a 2.7...

'Limited order Guards Red'. He really is full of sh*t. Iwonder whether the car always made smoke, of whether he has just discovered it?

Yeah, expect he just relisted it, typed why the car is a dud and didn't check the rest. Had a text from him saying he's had an offer of £1250, which roughly translates to "I can't prevent you from finding out the car is shite, so lets just agree to walk away". Either that or he's seen this thread.

He owned and ran the company......

It is re listed so I asked via e bay could I come and view tomorrow

Answer

I know it's a pain but I'm working a 24hour sleep on shift from tomorrow morning

NOW we know why he wanted immediate payment via PayPal in the first advert. What a bell-end. Unfortunately as the cars become cheaper and cheaper we will see more chancers like this buying up cars on their last legs and then trying to get out of them when the bills come due.

Ok, listen to this one for the ultimate in levels of trust.........I bought my Black 944 Turbo last September (2011) from a chap who lives in Dundee, Jockville. I bought it via Pistonheads on the strength of a couple of photo's. I had never seen it in the metal, so to speak, and exchanged only three e-mails with the vendor. Heaven knows why but the next day i transfered £4,200.00 into his bank account!!! Then FOUR DAY'S LATER, he sent a chap named George who does odd jobs for him (apparantly) to drive it down to me, through the night at 70mph! I really did question my sanity during that four day period but, refused to panic and keep ringing him up all the time. I looked out of my bedroom window at 05:30 on that September morning to see a totaly gorgeous (and i mean gorgeous in every sense of the word) 944 Turbo parked up on my drive with George fast asleep inside. The moral of this story, there are still a few honest reliable people out there so my advice to you (unless you are totaly certain it's a ringer) is buy it without seeing it. It's fcuking exciting!! After all, how does that old adage go....."If you're not living on the edge...You're taking up too much space" ! Good luck mate.
Pete

Oh, i forgot to say, since last September i have been offered 6k for it twice (two different people) and, 6.5k once (one of the two original people). The chap i bought it from had money worries within his business and needed the dosh quick. Right place, right time.

Hence my full of sh*t comment. Maybe he is dishonest or maybe he believes that talking boll*cks is part of selling cars - so he is either a liar or an idiot. [:D]
