As I'm sure most people on R27 will agree, there are a number of disadvantages of owning a Porsche in Ireland:
1) VRT (applies to South only obviously)
2) Extortionate insurance
3) Crappy roads
And finally the main point of this message:
4) Last is the lack of numbers of independant porsche specialists (dealers and service). I'm not just talking about "quality" specialists, I'm referring to the apparently small numbers any sort of Porsche specialists whatsoever.
Now before anyone sends me a flamer berating me for not mentioning such and such a person or company, I should state that I am aware that there are very good people out there, but they seem to operate on a word of mouth basis. In fact one of my main reasons for joining the PCGB and PCI is find out who is good for insurance, servicing, sales etc etc.
Does anyone want to add a message to this thread with recommendations for servicing, insurance etc etc???? I'd love to make a useful contribution, but the fact that I don't have one to make is my reason for writing this in the first place. Perhaps we could build up a comprehensive list that could sit on the forum, a bit like an FAQ thread.
I suppose you could also name and shame anyone involved in any horror stories that you have had, however be careful as the law of liable will probably apply on the forum, perhaps more shame and less name.
