Porsche 944 1986 Starting Problems

Hello people, I have recently brought a Porsche 944! I brought the car as a non runner. I have checked that there's fuel at the fuel rail. All the spark plugs are firing, I'm new to car restoration work so if anyone has any ideas, would be grateful.

Also, I have uploaded a picture of a component that I believe is some form of cruise control? It makes a cracking noise when battery power is applied, could this be anything to do with the starting issues?

Thanks for looking [:)]

Yeah looks like a cruise control to me. I'd start by taking the power off it and having another go at starting it.

Where in country are you Joshua, maybe a local owner can help?

If you have sparks (at the right times and in the right order) and fuel then checking compression would be a good idea.

If it has been parked for some time is the air intake ok? often nice for creatures (rodents/squirrels etc.) to nest in, which could block the air flow.
