Pirelli Tyres Factory Tour and Light Lunch Tuesday May 19th

If anyone’s a fan of BBC’s Inside the Factory, this one should be right up your street. In an attempt to do our bit, Deb & I have negotiated another no cost, Pirelli factory tour for up to twenty lucky R3 members, but only if there is enough interest.

They say there is no such thing as a free meal, well I beg to differ, so to kick things off guests are being offered a light lunch, courtesy of Pirelli before exclusive access to the factory floor, completely free of charge.

For those who don’t know, Pirelli Carlisle first opened its doors in 1968 for the supply of tyres to large car manufacturers such as Jaguar, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo and of course Porsche and operates 24/7, up to 354 days a year, employing around 900 people and is a centre of excellence for their premium and SUV tyre range.

Being from the tyre industry myself, I find the whole procedure pretty amazing (sad I know), but don’t just take my word for it, Pirelli are offering a handful of members the chance to learn about some of the intricate stages a tyre goes through from compounding (mixing ingredients), constructing the carcass, applying tread, to final and critical vulcanization process (the heat/pressure bit) before it eventually becomes the finished product. If you’ve ever wondered what makes an N rated tyre different to others, here’s your chance to find out.

Sadly, Pirelli can only accommodate a maximum of 20 people, for this tour therefore it must remain an R3 member benefit, consequently only expressions of interest from R3 members can be considered at this point. Subsequently, places will be monitored and allocated on a first come first served basis.

Please note, also due to GDPR requirements, you must be happy for both Deb & I (although no longer club officials) to handle your details prior to attending this, as we’re the ones organising it, if you’re not happy to do this or can’t fully commit, please refrain from asking for a space.

Book Here.

Hi Greg, sounds a great event! I’ve sent a booking response for myself, there was no passenger option so tried again in order to enter Gillian’s name but it won’t allow a second entry. Would be grateful if you can add Gillian. Thanks
