Thanks [ORIGINAL: 944s2 Nice A couple of decals on the side would just finish it off[]
Thanks Chris. [ORIGINAL: chrisH Rich, Looks great. What is the full spec as I see it has Xenons and 19ins forged wheels? I also have Gen II, Cayman S. Chris
Thanks cayman. [ORIGINAL: cayman Very nice, hope you are going to respect it until run in. Agree nice to see full spec.
Thanks Kevin. [ORIGINAL: kevinnunn Hi Rich I see you have got your new cayman & it looks excellent & enjoy it. Yours Truly Kevin.
No, it's manual. I tried a PDK, but didn't like it as much. I'm sure PDK is excellent and better than me at changing gears, but I just prefer the old fashioned control of doing it myself. ...but the car does indeed have sports chrono plus. With a manual, you still get a sharper throttle response, a slightly less intrustive PSM, some extra PCM 3.0 functions and of course the chrono timer - which I actually like. Here's the spec: Black leather interior Top tinted windscreen ParkAssist Bi-Xenon lighting system with Dynamic cornering lights Sport Chrono Package Plus Sports tailpipe Limited slip rear differential lock Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) 19-inch Carrera Sport wheel Wheels painted in Black Floor mats Seat belts in Guards Red Heated seats Fully automatic climate control Instrument dials in Carrara White Cruise control Sport seats Porsche crest embossed on head restraints Gear lever trim leather Three-spoke multi-function steering wheel Door entry guards in stainless steel Telephone module for PCM Universal audio interface Porsche Communication Management (PCM 3.0) including extended navigation module Sound Package Plus incl. CD storage box Chrono timer painted white ... as you can see - a few "must haves", a few unnecessary luxuries and a few omissions - particularly short shift, sports exhaust and decals, but each can be retrofitted if I decide to upgrade the car later. As you might imagine, I'm a very happy chap [ORIGINAL: cayman I can see from the pics that you have Sports Chrono, so did you go for PFK and Sports Chrono plus option. I really enjoy my PDK and IMHO prefer it to manual, so responsive, so easy to kick down hard drop wo gears and fly away. Recently in France with a few cars and the responsiveness of the PDK and ability to achieve total efficiency of gear change really allowed the Cayman S to accelerate at higher speeds against the manual opposition. Look forward to seeing full spec.
Thanks very much Cliff. [ORIGINAL: CLIFFWILKINS Nice Very sharp with the black wheels []
I was told that the engines are run in at the factory, but that it would still be advisable to give the car a little extra TLC to begin with. The OPC salesman recommended that I keep it below 4000 rpm, and not labour the engine for the first 500 miles. Have fun with yor new car when it arrives. [ORIGINAL: turbodog What is the advice re running in? I didn't think it was necessary any more. (My 2.9 has left the factory and is en route, so I should get it in a couple of weeks.)

I am pretty sure that is not true. I am ony a few weeks back from the Porsche factory tour, including the engine shop, and I recall being told that the engines are now only "cold tested", meaning they are not fired up for testing, so they are certainly not bench run at all. Nor do I recall the cars being driven any great distance either before they are shipped. I am happy to be proven wrong if someone knows better, but as far as I know, the engines are not run in.ORIGINAL: RichGS I was told that the engines are run in at the factory
Hmmm interesting John. The OPC salesman told me otherwise, but maybe he was wrong? Can't argue you though as you're reporting back from a visit to the factory. In any case, my car was run in by me...ORIGINAL: John HI am pretty sure that is not true. I went on the PCGB factory tour, and it was absolutely superb. We did the Mercedes museum, Porshe museum and factory, Audi forum and factory and lots more. Highly recommended!ORIGINAL: RichGS On a side note - what's the factory tour like? I did toy with the idea of choosing the "factory collection" option, but I decided against it. Is good? []
