Pesky Sunroof

Hi All,

Just a quick one I hope : Sunroof failure on early 1985 lux

Sunroof was operating in the tilt position when bought (only had a few weeks) but I then unlocked the arms from the roof to take the panel out and following this when I press the button to re-enagage the arms nothing happens so I had to do this manually. I've then picked up a whole motor and micro switch assembly from fleabay and swapped the lot but still the same result.

I've read the clarkes article which is really useful and adjusted the screwthread to engage the clutch but from the trouble shooting section I'm thinking micro switch at front between sun visors ?

My real question though is 'on both motor / gear assemblies it is really quite hard to turn the gearing by hand even with a decent screwdriver to manually operate the sunroof. Is this normal , I'm having to apply a lot of pressure and it feels exceptionally tight. I'm just wondering if there is a problem with the main mechanisims rather than the micro switches.

Anybody had a similar issue - any help gratfeully received as I would like to sort for the sunny times ahead this year

many Thanks

Jeremy

I'm assuming that you are aware of the correct operating procedure, ie key in position 1 - switch will only release or lock the roof and ignition switch in position 2 - switch will tilt or pull down roof only.

Other problems with them I cant help with - the early ones are different from the later ones!
